| There have been several training sessions held by the centre recently to which many members have been able to access.
Child Protection Training – This was held at the William Webb Ellis Business Centre on April 24th. It was delivered by Dr Vic Tuck from Warwickshire Safeguarding Children’s Board. A mix of both counsellors and admin attended which proved very informative as it gave different perspectives to a very difficult area. Learning & Behaviour in Schools – a half-day at the centre on April 26th included a visit from Gill Dixon of LABS, who gave us an insight into the role of LABS workers in schools and how our work might complement theirs. Play Therapy – A full day on May 18th at Rugby Parents Centre with a facilitator from Play Therapy UK. This proved to be an extremely interesting and successful day for those counsellors who attended. Overcoming Sexual Difficulties - Another full day held on June 2nd at the centre headed by Julie Gossage. It aimed to assist couple counsellors in helping couples overcome their sexual difficulties. Sarah Curtis the Centres Director, has just completed and awarded her certificate for a leadership development programme. This was delivered by Common Purpose and has taken a year. It was titled Matrix and Focus for leaders who want more. The programme involved meeting up with other leaders from all three sectors – private, public and voluntary/community. Participants work together to wrestle with real-life problems in their communities. Gaining experience through site visits, panel discussions and briefings, on different approaches to leadership. Ruth also attended one of the Common Purpose programmes. The Navigator for broadening the horizons of emerging leaders brings together participants from diverse backgrounds who have potential for future leadership. It encourages them to challenge the views of leaders they meet again through site visits and exposure to different leadership skills. |
